Great Haddon development

20th July 2017

Shailesh Vara MP has raised concerns about the very short notice given by Peterborough City Council for a meeting of its Planning and Environmental Committee to discuss the Great Haddon proposal in Peterborough.

The meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, 25th July 2017 but notice has just been given with letters from the Council dated 13th July only being received by interested parties in the past couple of days.

Given the scale of the proposed development, at up to 5350 homes, and the amount of work that would be required by any party wishing to contribute to the meeting, this few days’ notice is completely inadequate.

Moreover, as the holiday season is just starting, some people who may wish to make representations at the meeting will not be able to do so due to prior holiday arrangements.

Mr Vara has therefore written to Mrs Gillian Beasley, Chief Executive of Peterborough City Council, asking for the meeting to be put back to the middle of September.
